About Project
To better service the Westlake community, Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center selected a first floor retail space at 29540 Center Ridge Road at the Crocker Road intersection for a new location to expand services.
Once a yoga studio, the 2,255 sq. ft. long and confining interior was transformed into spacious offices to provide Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center with private consultation rooms, child observation rooms, a lab, areas for working staff and a welcoming lobby.
After revising and reviewing numerous floor plans to work in all of Cleveland Hearing & Speech staff requirements, a plan was decided upon with a defined budget. Retaining and utilizing portions of the existing space to save money was in important budget consideration. When completed, the renovation costs came in under budget. Greater Cleveland Construction salvaged materials such as existing bamboo flooring in the lobby used to create a formal and contemporary entrance. The floor plan was developed to retain the existing restrooms to avoid an added expenditure to move plumbing and create new restrooms.
To remain consistent with the Cleveland Hearing & Speech brand and image, we worked closely with CHSC staff on interior finishes and colors that mimic the look of their main location in University Circle. This was achieved with bright white walls, a high ceiling in the lobby (adding two floating ceilings for more lighting) and enhancing the face of the lobby reception counter with bamboo. The CHSC staff wanted splashes of color in the laminate counter tops and furniture to repeat the bright colors in the Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center logo. This renovated space created a colorful, contemporary feeling.
